Now in its 3rd edition, the exhibition in question will be a real concert, which will involve artists of various nationalities aimed at living and capturing the glances on their own nomadist thinking, on coexistences and slips; all implemented with different techniques, and that in the spirit of these find the reason for unity. It is evident that the coexistence of various artistic languages that are correlated, interpenetrate and integrate, becomes an important parameter in the comprehension and evaluation of artistic expressions of different cultural realities as a tool able to provide a unitary reading key. Attention to different languages, knowledge and exchange with others find concrete ways and privileged channels of realization precisely in artistic and expressive languages. Towards this conciliatory direction, therefore, we must read the metamorphic capacity of art, ever more tended to fathom in the dynamics and alternating coexistence of oppositional systems the respect and recognition of alterity that struggles and requires a more mature reflection. To aspire to start and to promote, step by step, the search for a common reason, can in fact give an account of new possibilities for comparison and cultural growth.

14. october - 31. october 2017

This October the permanent collection returns to the RossoCinabro Gallery with a dynamic new presentation of 40 works from all world.

The exhibition includes iconic favorites alongside new acquisitions, which will be displayed at the RossoCinabro for the first time. Cristina Madini and Joe Hansen Curators, selected the works and conceived the presentation.

The exhibition does away with hierarchical distinctions and the idea of the curator’s voice as absolute authority, instead presenting works that engender ever-evolving associations and interpretations. The works are loosely thematically organized to mimic an analog version of the Web, using an associative approach derived from the way we navigate today’s “hyperlinked” world. Visitors are encouraged to find their own path through a network of possibilities that highlight explicit connections as well as subtle, unexpected resonances among the artworks on view.

Each artwork tells many stories, and each is made even more interesting through relationships to other works and ideas. As those works continues to develop meanings and spawn questions through contact with other artworks, it remains vital in a changing world.

On the occasion of the XII Contemporary AMACI day in Italy,  October 15th 2016

(Associazione Musei d'Arte Contemporanea Italiani)

Group exhibition, curated by Cristina Madini, centered on the idea of identity and the various reports that it assumes with the world and reality. One of the artists on display is a composite and multifaceted expressiveness of code whose prerogatives are estimated in the reciprocal relationship of individual and consolidated observation skills that are reflected in the analysis and discernment oriented towards specific artistic and cultural purposes.

Prompt and certain personalities leading these authors to promote and manifest with similar familiarity, their potential of painters, sculptors, photographers and manufacturers of environmental interventions and installations, as they carry on the ideals of art ingenious versatility of the first half of the twentieth century .

In each of their deal with the matter and space that confine and contain, these artists use an ingrained talent experimenters and at the same time an ambition far from epidermal to loosen the constraints and rules dictated by a specific technical or stylistic address.

So it's curious about the careful person, the alternation, far from tiring to read, autonomous realizations relative to each other, which present themselves in their spare reveal identity is not stifled by what, at first glance, might manifest as vague eclecticism. An imaginative way in which the daring art narration is identified with the mysterious adventure of human life.

Fairy Tales

Godsbanen Aarhus Culture Center

Aarhus, Denmark.

2. april - 30. april 2016

This exhibition of my fairy tales in a "non place" with Marc Augé´s definition of the term in the very heart of Aarhus public city´s space, is a culmination of a vision I have had for some time.

Originally I was driven by a wish to create value for my city Aarhus.

I´m filled with gratitude for all this city has given me, so naturally I wanted to give something back - in the way I best can.

The plan was to place my fairy tale paintings in the public space in Aarhus - for the people of the city - by specifically placing them in a cool passage where lots of people pass through every day, characterized by speed and stress.

I wanted to transform this kind of cool and stressful public passage into a "place" with Norbert Schulze definition of the term, enabling people to "dwell" and experience a breathing space of a lighter and brighter atmosphere.

I also wanted to offer the essence of the danish values and ideals, inspired by the fact that Aarhus will represent the face of Denmark in 2017 as European cultural capital.

The vision therefore also included a wish to communicate the traditional danish cozy atmosphere, with the painting - the worlds oldest media - just as Denmark is the worlds oldest kingdom, and also to honor the danish cultural heritage of H.C. Andersen.

It has taken some time to realize this intention of mine  :)

The exhibition opened on H.C. Andersens birthday 2. april 2016 & the paintings hang for a whole month in a cool passage in Aarhus' public space with lots of traffic of people passing through.

I love it -  I now feel this intention is finally accomplished.

Artista al Castello

Premio Internazionale

Nerola, Roma, Italy.

december 11'th 2015

curated by

Salvatore and Francesco Saverio Russo

This was a very special evening for me. I feel very honored and proud to receive this award for "the stylistic value of my art" - inside this amazing castle in Nerola, very high up on a hill in the Italian country side, outside of Rome.

This is a very big step for me as an artist, being rewarded for painting in my own personal way and expressing my inner world truthfully as I feel it should be done - as me.

It can be a hard and thorny journey, to hold on to your optimism and integrity when you also have to make a living in this world, and therefore need to play by others rules.

This evening was worth all the struggles. It really meant the world to me to recieve this award.

I felt like a princess going to the bal in the castle.

I have never been invited into a real castle before & me and my two daughters felt like we were real life Cinderella's. It was truly a magical evening.

Above is the prize, I got at the Castello Orsini. My last name was Stella that night :) It was a little mixed up, as my last name is Ólafsdóttir, and Stella is my middle name. On the poster and in the catalogue my full name is listed correctly.

To me, it was a good omen to been given a last name that means Star that evening :)

It was overall a really well organized event by the curators Salvatore and Francesco Saverio Russo.

Below is the certificate I received, the catalogue of the event with my painting Circle of Life, and the poster for the event. Farther down are some photos we took for fun in the castle.

Artists at the Jubilee

Michelangelo International Prize

Vatican City State, Rome, Italy.

December 10'th 2015

I feel so honored and blessed to have been able to come to Rome, and to have been selected to accept this amazing miniature Michelangelo Moses award, in the beautiful Palazzo Cardinal Cesi, at the St. Peter's Square in the Vatican city state.

It was such a beautiful evening.  A very professional and grande ceremony arranged by

Salvatore and Francesco Saverio Russo

The Jubilee of Mercy is an Extraordinary Holy Year that opened on December 8, 2015 and ends on November 20, 2016.

Pope Francis launched his yearlong push for a global Catholic church of mercy and forgiveness, starting the Jubilee year by calling for a church that always puts mercy before judgment. The celebration is expected to attract around 10 million pilgrims over the course of the year.

I was so lucky to have two amazingly supportive traveling companions with me to Rome. My two daughters, Isabella and Sylvia Stella, who contribute to the photo documentation of the beautiful settings, inside and outside of the event's location at Palazzo Cardinal Cesi.

Below is the poster and the catalogue for the Michelangelo International prize in Cardinal Cesi Palace december 10'th, 2015.

Art against Cancer for children

Odense City Hall, Denmark

6.-12. februar 2015

I donated one of my paintings NEW MOON 2013 for this wonderful cause.

My beloved father died very suddenly of cancer at the young age of 54 years old.

Also the daughter of one of my dearest friends has fought cancer very bravely. It was my absolute pleasure to contribute to this auction for children with cancer.

My artwork was published and discussed in the local newspaper

Nature Fairy Tales - Solo exhibition

Galleri 8240, Risskov, Aarhus, Denmark.

8.january-18.january 2015

Above is the printed invitation to the exhibition. I got to know the neighborhood in Risskov very well, when I distributed those, at the beginning of the new year.

Below are newspaper clips about the exhibition, from the local newspapers in Denmark.

Exhibition catalogue:

In 2014 i finished a five year study, at Aarhus University in Art History.

The picture below far left, is the front cover of my master thesis: "Apple in a post-secular view"

The second two, contain the summary of the thesis.

I´m so proud of this work.

This is probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. Not because of the studies, but because being an artist and thinking different, was not very welcomed inside the University. I never really understood all the unspoken rules of how to do it right.

I almost didn't finish, because it was so frustrating to be the pink elephant in the room - but I did :)  and I met such amazing people in the process.

"Shadows & Light"

This is a piece from my mirror phase as an Art Student in Reykjavik Iceland.

I build this art work for the final school group exhibition in 2006.

It's a twofold sculpture placed into a dark room. A calenderscope and a heavy wooden box.

The artwork consists of several long thin mirrors put together and made into calendarscopes. The calendarscopes, were then placed inside a thick plastic tube, and paired with acrylic glass, filled with small pieces of coloured glass.

It was an interactive art work, where the guests could turn the wheel and set it into motion, manipulating the triangle reflections of light and putting them into movement.

The shadows got cast into the solid masculine sqare treebox. The triangleformed shadows symbolizing the female reproductive organs and the heavy, solid 100 cm x 100 cm square, built of wood, with traditional man tools, placed on a heavy plinth, symbolizing a masculine dominant force.
